Ramsbottom United are delighted to announce that Mike Worthington has joined the first teams’ management team with immediate effect, following his departure from Glossop North End.

Mike, who was appointed manager at the Hillmen at the start of the 2023/24 season, has been quickly snapped up by Rammy boss Steve Wilkes and will take his place as a part of the management team ahead of the league cup game with Bury on Saturday.

“I am delighted to be joining the club,” Mike said following the announcement. “The call from the manager came out of the blue but after speaking to him, it was a no brainer to join the club.

“The club is in a fantastic place off the pitch, with everyone pulling together for the good of the club. And we have a very talented squad on the pitch and I am looking forward to getting started and contributing to help the club achieve its aims.”

A former first team coach with Clitheroe, head of development at AFC Darwen and Under 21s boss at Padiham as well as being a sports lecturer and former Head of Men’s Football at ACCROSS College, Mike brings a wealth of experience to the Rams.

Manager Steve Wilkes was very pleased to have attracted the sought after coach to his backroom staff.

“Really pleased that Mikey has agreed to come and join me and Scott and become part of the management team here at Ramsbottom United.

“I have known Mikey for a few years and always admired how he conducts himself and I have seen first hand his coaching.

“Both myself and Scott and looking forward to working with him and we see this as a great step forward for the club bringing him on board.”
