Ramsbottom United are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder James Ormrod.

The 22-year-old joins the club from fellow Northern Premier League side 1874 Northwich.

He began his career with Maine Road at the age of 18 before moving to Barnoldswick and then 1874 Northwich where he’s been for the past 3 seasons.

After signing on the dotted line, Ormrod spoke to the clubs media team: “I’ve heard good things about the club off friends and when the opportunity came about to play regular football, closer to home, it was a no brainer.”

During his time at University, he played with fellow midfielder Jack Grimshaw and he’s looking forward to regaining that partnership at Rammy.

Ormrod added: “I hope to be a good addition to the squad and play the best that I can and show the fans what I’m all about.

“I want to play as many games as possible and enjoy my football as well as helping to team climb up the table.”

He’s a versatile player who can also play as a centre back.

Manager, Lee Donafee commented: “I’m happy to get James to the club.

“He trained with us last week after 1874 had agreed we could sign him.

“Having worked with him and also explained what we need from him I believe he will bring much needed qualities to the squad.”

James is eligible for the trip to Widnes this evening.
