OVERVIEW:
A bounce back was needed. A bounce back was delivered. Tuesday’s superb 2-0 win over 1874 Northwich certainly rose the spirits after the horrors of the defeat on Saturday at Glossop North End.

It was a hugely needed three points but this game brings around a whole different challenge – to break a strangehold of poor results on the road.

The Rams have collected just one point from their last 10 matches on their travels and have scored just two goals (at Marine and in the draw at Newcastle Town). Add into the mix that Leek have only lost once in 13 home games this season, winning eight and sit just three points behind league leaders Warrington Rylands.

Oh, and Leek Town are unbeaten in their last 10 games, winning 9. And we have never beaten them either. Sheesh…. why are we going??

Wave the white flag? Any point in showing up? Given the numbers above, you would think not. But this team have a point to prove. They must go into this fixture without that mindset and look to produce something of the home form that has seen them score five without response in their last two games at the HWRS.

And with the third-time return of Tony Donaldson to boost the ranks, there is a sense of pride appearing.

Saturday’s match will be a very, very tough one but stats are stats. No-one expected West Indies to beat New Zealand in the opening fixture of the Women’s World Cup tournament yesterday… no-one is expecting Rammy to produce a result at Leek.

STAT OF THE PREVIEW:
The Rams have not beaten Leek Town in their three previous meetings – the fixture earlier in the season going the way of the Staffordshire side 2-0. It’s one draw and two defeats in the history as it stands. Another notch in the ‘Rammy won’t win today’ category.
