OVERVIEW:
The Chorley based side won their last game 3-1 at home to AFC Blackpool and currently sit in 4th place in their division’s form table scoring 15 goals in their previous five games in all competitions.

As with our win over Worsbrough, Villa also had to face off against South Yorkshire opposition as they overcame Handsworth of the Northern Counties East Premier Division 3-2 in their First Round Qualifying tie.

So they definitely seem quite a free-scoring side and the Rams will need to be on their mettle to progress.

HISTORY:
We have never played them before but they are going well in their league, sitting third with eight wins from 12 games and 24 points to their name.

MANAGER’S THOUGHTS:
“It was frustrating to have our scheduled league game against Wythenshawe Town postponed last Tuesday but there was no choice really following the heavy and persistent rain over the previous two days.

“It would have been nice to see if we could have built on last Saturday’s draw with Irlam but I suppose it gave our players a bit of a break seen as it’s been two games a week non-stop since the start of the season over 8 weeks ago.

“We also had a fairly long list of absentees last week so hopefully there’ll be some lads coming back into contention for Saturday.

“Finally, it’s nice to see a player I signed over 12 years ago, Matt Atherton, now managing Villa and doing an excellent job.

“After today I hope they go on to have a great season.”
