Under Pressure Ramsbottom United manager has bolstered his squad in an attempt to halt the run of defeats that has seen the club plummet to the bottom of the league.

Having conceded 36 goals already, more than any other team in the division, the obvious area for concern has seen the manager recruit two newcomers in time for the home game against Colne on Saturday.

Returning to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium is no-nonsense defender and former Ram, Kelvin Lugsden, back at the club where he made 56 appearances between 2018 and 2020.

Also joining the ranks is Dan McKenna, a 24 year old defender-cum-midfield player. Dan began his career in the youth ranks at Bolton Wanderers before joining Witton Albion as an 18 year old. A short spell with Runcorn Linnets followed before a return to Witton for whom he made 41 appearances last season.

At the beginning of this season he joined City of Liverpool but Donafee moved quickly when hearing of his, and other players release from the Purps.

Both players are likely to make their debuts tomorrow with the main aim of closing down the holes in the leaky defence and putting the Rams back on track to halt their poor recent run.

Manager Donafee feels confident that when the team stop shipping goals, the squad is strong enough to start the climb back up the table, and these two new signings are expecting to bolster the defence in an attempt to reverse recent results.
