How did you come to join Ramsbottom United?
I came about joining Rammy when both Paul Fildes and Mark Fell became joint managers. I was playing under Paul at Nelson when he made the switch to Rammy and brought me with him.

Rammy highlight?
My highlight would have to be the FA Trophy run we had in 2017/18 when we reached the last 16 of the competition. Some amazing games we played in, especially that Tuesday nighter down at Weymouth and the AFC Fylde games.

Favourite game?
Now, being a centre half, this probably shouldn’t be my favourite game I have played in since being at the club but it is – I would go for the 5-5 draw against AFC Fylde at home when we managed to get a replay in the FA Trophy. That was some game for the fans and for the players.

Rammy lowlight?
My biggest lowlight since being at the club is when we got beaten in the semi-finals of the play-offs a couple of seasons ago at Radcliffe. We just didn’t turn up on the day and it was so frustrating and disappointing to get beaten 3-0 after the season that we had had.

Best player you played with?
The best player I have played with would have to be Tom Kennedy. I’m yet to see him have a bad game and his quality on the ball is unbelievable.

Player to avoid on the pitch?
Me! They don’t call me Terminator Thompson for nothing!!

Funniest moments?
I know a few Rammy fans will enjoy this one – but my funniest moment is when our old manager Mark Fell was in a horrendous mood before the game on a match day. Anyway, before the warm up, we were all stood chatting in a group on the pitch about 30 yards away from Felly. One of the lads – no names mentioned (Daz Green) thought it would be funny to try and ping a ball at the gaffer when he wasn’t looking. So he goes to kick the ball, catches it way sweeter than he wanted to and absolutely rocketed it straight at Felly’s face, nearly knocking him over! Everyone froze and it went silent, thinking he was going to go ballistic. But he didn’t say anything… he just stormed off and we all burst out laughing!
