RAMSBOTTOM UNITED WOMEN 1
GLOSSOP NE CC LADIES 4
Sunday 19th October 2025

In the soggiest of conditions, Glossop got the better of Rammy again in a repeat of the scoreline from a few weeks back.

Glossop threatened early with a cross that went across the face of goal, but it was Rammy who made the breakthrough in the 11th minute. Hodcroft, with her back to goal, flicked the ball towards Woods who, on the volley, sent a fabulous looping shot in over the keeper from outside the box.

Glossop then scored three times in the following 15 minutes though to turn the game around – two goals from open play and a contentious penalty awarded for what The Ewes protested was an excellent tackle.

The remainder of the half passed without incident save for a couple of off-target shots from each side.

Half-time 1-3

An early chance for Rammy in the second half was followed by Glossop being awarded a second penalty for a perceived handball but the ball hit the crossbar and went out and the score remained 1-3.

Both sides had chances as the half continued, the most notable being in the 70th minute when some excellent work by Daniels got the ball to Hodcroft but unfortunately her shot was blocked on the line by a defender and Daniels’ follow-up went just over.

As Rammy pushed bodies forward trying to find a way through, Glossop took advantage and claimed a fourth goal in the 83rd minute.

Full-time 1-4

Speaking after the game, The Ewes manager Glen Taylor said that although the result was disappointing there was also much to be encouraged by.
