Reserves battle back for point at Deans

On Friday night, the Recreational Team played their first ever cup game, facing Bury Ladies Reds under the floodlights at Gigg Lane (pictured above). A huge squad of 17 made the short journey and once again gave very good account of themselves, passing the ball astonishingly well for such a new team and defending resolutely. The more experienced Bury team were the eventual victors though, scoring three goals in the second half. Player of the Match was Caroline Gough.

Last Sunday the Reserves were in action away from home again, this time against Deans FC Ladies. It took Deans going two goals ahead for the team to spring into action late in the second half. After a slick one-two with Niamh Downey, Devon Kilduff ran half the pitch, charging past the opposition to score from a narrow angle. And then Sophie Kerr brought the Rams level with an unstoppable free-kick after Player of the Match Lexi Carter was tripped just outside the box. Unfortunately the sluggish start meant the Reserves had to settle for just the one point though.
