Promising pre-season as league start looms

Both our women’s teams have had busy and encouraging pre-seasons as the summer warm-ups draw to a close.

The Firsts remain undefeated in preparation for what will be their second season in the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League Division 2.

They recorded wins over Maine Road, Leeds Medics and Barr Hill United and achieved an impressive draw against the England Lionesses Supporters Team under the floodlights at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium.

The newly formed Reserves suffered narrow defeats to Chadderton, Manchester Vixens and Bolton County in their first three matches but showed how well they are developing when they played higher league opponents, firstly beating Radcliffe Reserves and then, despite ultimately losing, putting in a performance to be proud of against Stretford Paddock who play three divisions higher.

The teams’ last friendlies are tomorrow against Avro and Astley Bridge before the league starts on 6th September.
