EWES DRAW AS CURTAIN FALLS ON INAUGURAL SEASON

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Rammy started brightly, passing the ball freely in midfield and looking for a way through the Crompton defence. But Crompton themselves were quick on the break and there were chances at both ends in the early stages

The turning point came in the 25th minute with the introduction of Woods.  Almost immediately, she made an impact, playing a perfect through ball down the left side which Duffy raced onto and fired in over the keeper with style. A few minutes later she doubled The Ewes’ lead when she received a throw from Worsick on the left, turned through two defenders on the edge of the box and struck the ball low into the bottom right corner.

HT: 2-0

Rammy started the second half confidently but had a let-off early on when a Crompton goal was ruled out for offside. This proved a sign of things to come as Crompton turned the game on its head with three quick goals in the 56th (from the penalty spot), 64th and 65th minutes.

The somewhat startled Ewes regrouped after the setback and began to reassert their authority, levelling things up when Howarth delivered a cross into the box and Westerman met it well, placing the ball home from close range.

Despite further opportunities at both ends, the game ultimately ended in a draw, just as it had in the previous two meetings between the sides – a 2–2 result in The Ewes’ inaugural match in July 2025, and a 1–1 draw in the reverse league fixture in September.

The Ewes finished a respectable sixth in the table on 21 points, with five wins, six draws and seven defeats in their first season. And there was even bigger news to follow a few days later—the announcement that next season will see the introduction of a second Rammy women’s team.
