The Ewes faced a “double-header” consisting of two 45-minute matches, due to their opponents’ backlog of fixtures.

Rammy started strong and controlled the early part of the game. After already going close twice through Woods, they got a deserved breakthrough on nine minutes. The Hindley keeper dived well to parry Duffy’s initial effort, but Duffy took the resulting corner and a deft header from Woods put The Ewes ahead.

As Hindley pushed hard for an equaliser the Rammy defence, along with Hill in goal, held firm. Defender Downey made a crucial block in front of goal and Albo-Elliott cleared the danger to keep Rammy’s lead, whilst Woods and Westerman had further chances at the other end.

It wasn’t until four minutes from the end that Hindley found a way through and equalised to snatch a draw, much to The Ewes’ disappointment as they had more than matched their higher placed opponents.

After a 15 minute break it was on with the next match, and this time the The Ewes didn’t just stop at one early goal!

On seven minutes Downey sent a long, high ball upfield to Westerman who controlled it superbly on the edge of the box before lifting it in over the keeper. Just three minutes later Westerman turned provider, sending a beautifullly timed pass through for Duffy. Leaving her marker behind, Duffy charged forward and unleashed an unstoppable strike to double Rammy’s lead.

Soon after, Hill stayed strong to gather a Hindley cross whilst under pressure from an onrushing attacker, and on 24 minutes produced an excellent double save to preserve the advantage. Although unable to stop a long-range Hindley shot a minute later, The Ewes responded quickly to restore their two-goal cushion. Woods displayed sublime footwork before delivering a perfectly weighted throughball to Duffy who once again left her marker behind and fired the ball into the net.

Not content with three goals, Rammy continued to push and added a fourth in the 37th minute when Duffy played the ball to Pearson in the box who dodged a defender and delicately looped her effort into the top right corner.

Hindley piled on the pressure in the closing stages but confident goalkeeping from Hill, a goal-line clearance from Worsick, and determined defending across the whole team ensured that The Ewes received a well-deserved victory after a dominant performance.
