Manager Lee Donafee felt the Rams were good value in the first 45 minutes against Prescot Cables and they battled well in the second half to ensure that Rammy came away with all three points.

Ramsbottom took an early lead, scoring inside the first two minutes of the match through Billy Hasler-Cregg. The Rams were in control for the remainder of the half and should really have added to their lead but Prescot came out with more fire in the second half, only to find Rammy defending well to ensure they secured the victory.

“We are delighted to get the win and all three points that came with it”, Donafee said after the game.

“I thought we started well and that showed, scoring after two minutes.

“For the next 30 minutes I felt we were in control and managed the game well at both ends of the pitch.

“We knew that we would be in for a tough game and Prescot provided that and caused us some problems.

“The second half we were sloppy in possession and the decision making on the transition was really poor which I felt encouraged Prescot and it gave them a lot of the ball.”

Although it was Hasler-Cregg who stole the headlines at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium, Donafee was impressed by the efforts of his team’s defensive work after they grabbed a third successive clean sheet at home.

“Overall, as a team, we dug in and defended really well and I’m delighted that we kept a clean sheet as I felt the lads, especially the back five, deserved that.”

The manager also added that the Rams faithful may have been the difference in the closing parts of the game.

“I thought the fans again are a credit to the club.”

The lads will now go into the next game on 19th March against Colne with a renewed sense of confidence.
