Ramsbottom United manager Lee Donafee has boosted his squad with a Christmas signing as he attempts to steer the club away from the relegation places in NPL West Division.

Joining the team at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium is 27 year old AAQIL CAMPBELL, originally from Trinidad & Tobago.

The Rochdale-based player is comfortable in midfield or up-front and adds strength to the squad that has struggled so far this season.

Previously based down south, Aaqil has been on the books of Wembley FC, Bracknell Town and Aylesbury United, and he joins the Rams having impressed the manager in training following a recommendation following his move north.

On joining the club he said “I played professional in Trinidad & Tobago across three teams, W Connection, San Juan Jabloteh and Club Sando FC, where we featured in two Concacaf tournaments. I then came to the UK in 2019 and played for teams down south.

I’m looking forward to playing for Ramsbottom.”
