New manager Steve Wilkes has wasted no time in getting on with the task in hand.

After the disappointment of relegation from the Northern Premier League in April, Wilkes is determined to turn around the club’s fortunes as we seek an early return from the North West Counties League.

Gone are most of the players who failed to produce last season, but one or two of the better performers have returned along with a number of the club’s promising youngsters.

Joining them are players known to Wilkes and a number of other triallists.

Training began on Tuesday 13th June with a light workout on nearby Nuttall Park with Wilkes and coach Scott Campbell keeping a watchful eye on over twenty hopefuls.

Tuesdays and Thursday will see the sessions continuing on Nuttall Park whilst Saturday mornings will be taken up on the artificial surface at Heywood Sports Village.

There are still a number of triallists due who will be put through their paces ahead of a series of pre-season games that begin on July 4th with the new season kicking off on Saturday 29th July.
