28 year old experienced defender joins the Rams.

We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Macauley Wilson.

Wilson, 28, joins the Rams with a wealth of experience under his belt following spells at Blackpool, Fylde, Bury and six years at Bamber Bridge with three of those as club captain, scoring the winning penalty in their 2022/23 play off semi-final against Gainsborough Trinity.

Manager Steve Wilkes was delighted to capture “Macca’s” signature as his team prepare for a crucial second half of the season.

“Absolutely over the moon to bring Macauley in,” said Wilkes.

“A player with great leadership and experience, something that we’ve missed this season.

“After speaking to him and hearing how excited he is to get started I’m delighted that we’ve got him over the line.

“He’s also great in the changing room which will help the young lads in the squad.”

Macauley was equally excited to finalise the move to the HWRS.

“I’m looking forward to the new challenge after taking some time out of football,” said Wilson.

“I’ve had some good conversations with the gaffer Steve who sold it to me, Rob, Ritchie and I know quite few players too.

“They are good group of lads whether that’s from playing with them or against them and I’m hoping to come in and help the club reach the end goal which is promotion”.

Welcome to Rammy, Macauley!
