EWES UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

When Ramsbottom United Women’s Team got the news that their manager Glen Taylor was leaving for pastures new it came as a real blow, with concerns about how long it would take to find a replacement. But a chance comment after training, a chat, and a late night phonecall later and The Ewes were back on track!
Glen Taylor was selected to join the team as Manager and Coach in July after going through the unusual process of being trialled by an already assembled squad of players! He took on the challenge and helped get the team ready for their inaugural season whilst also beginning his UEFA B coaching course.
Through a recent chance meeting on the course he was invited to interview for a newly available role at Burnley FC, as a result of which he was offered the position of Burnley FC Girls U16 Academy Team Coach. Unfortunately this meant having to give up his post at Rammy, a decision which he did not take lightly.
The team would like to thank Glen for everything he did during his time at the club and wish him all the best on his coaching journey.
Rammy Juniors coach and committee member Ste Ryan was waiting to lock up the pitch after the team’s last training session with Glen when Rammy player Charlotte Pearson asked him in passing if he fancied being the team’s new manager! The chance comment quickly became a fully fledged idea after a conversation with captain and team-founder Katie Worsick, and a phonecall to his Rammy under-8s co-manager Mark Herricks.
A week later Ste and Mark took the next training session and were quickly confirmed as The Ewes’ new managers!
Ste and Mark have a wealth of coaching experience at all ages, and a love for the club. What could have been a real bump in the road for the team has turned out better than they could’ve imagined.
Ste said, “As soon as it was mentioned I knew we wanted the job, we just had to work out if we had the time alongside all our other coaching commitments. It was a no-brainer though – we couldn’t pass up such an exciting opportunity!”
The new regime had the perfect start on Sunday when the team beat AFC Urmston 2-0.
